Ardmore Distillery

The Ardmore distillery was founded in 1898 by Adam Teacher, son of Teacher’s Whisky founder William Teacher. Ardmore was one of the last distilleries to use traditional coal furnaces to heat their stills. In 2002, they switched to indirect heating through steam. In order not to lose the coal fires’ unique effect on the spirit, the new steam coils were designed with special kinks to replicate the old hot spots. The Ardmore distillery is currently owned by Beam Suntory.
