Balblair Distillery

The Highland distillery Balblair is one of the oldest distilleries in Scotland. It was officially founded in 1790, but it is believed that illicit distilling had been taking place on the site for decades before that. The distillery was founded by James McKeddy, and taken over by John Ross in the same year. It subsequently stayed in the hands of the Ross family for over a hundred years. The distillery was sold to its current owners, Inver House Distillers, in 1996.
