Bunnahabhain Distillery

The Islay distillery Bunnahabhain was founded in 1881 by William Robertson together with the brothers William and James Greenlees. Production at the distillery started in 1883. Bunnahabhain was in the ownership of Highland Distilleries Company Limited for most of its existence, until Edrington took over Highland Distillers in 1999 and mothballed Bunnahabhain for a short period. Not long after, Burn Stewart Distillers acquired the distillery and launched a major rebrand of its core range. Bunnahabhain has been in the hands of the South African company Distell since 2014.
