Dalwhinnie Distillery

The Speyside distillery Dalwhinnie was founded as ‘Strathspey’ in 1897 by John Grant, George Sellar and Alexander Mackenzie. A year later, John Somerville & Co and A.P. Blyth & Sons took over the distillery and changed the name to Dalwhinnie. Dalwhinnie became a part of Distillers Company Ltd in 1926, which would later become the modern spirits giant Diageo. Dalwhinnie shares the title of ‘The Highest Distillery in Scotland’ with Braeval: its visitor centre is located at 352 meters above sea level!
