Glenlossie Distillery

Glenlossie was founded in 1876 by John Duff, the former manager of Glendronach, together with Alexander Grigor Allan, George Thomson, Charles Shirres and H. Mackay. The Glenlossie-Glenlivet Distillery Co. was formed in 1895. When John Duff became more involved in Longmorn in 1896, Mackay took over the management of Glenlossie. Distillers Company Limited acquired the distillery in 1919. In 1930, they transferred it to their subsidiary, Scottish Malt Distillers. The number of stills were increased from four to six in 1962. A new distillery, named Mannochmore, was constructed on the premises in 1971. The two sister distilleries share a warehouse, and, until 2007, even the employees. Glenlossie is rarely released as a single malt, since most of its production is used to be blended.
