Icelandic Whisky

Iceland is commonly known as the land of fire and ice since it is home to both volcanoes and glaciers. The pristine natural beauty plays a huge part in its newly emerging whisky culture. The pure spring water is naturally filtered as it flows underground through porous lava rock, and every distillery in Iceland uses geothermal steam to heat its stills. Eimverk Distillery the first and only distillery producing Icelandic whisky and its Flóki brand captures the very essence of Iceland, from the hardy Icelandic barley to the pure spring water. One of the whiskies even includes barley smoked in the traditional way using sheep dung. Flóki was the name of the Viking leader who settled in Iceland. Supposedly he took three ravens with him on his ship and they guided him to Iceland. The symbol of the three ravens was adopted as the label for Eimverk’s Icelandic Whisky.
