Jim Beam Distillery

The Beam family has been distilling whiskey since 1795. Members of the Böhm family emigrated from Germany to Kentucky in the late 18th century, where they started producing whiskey. They eventually changed the spelling of their surname to the more American ‘Beam’. The family’s brand was renamed Jim Beam in 1943 in honor of James B. Beam, who rebuilt the company after Prohibition. The seventh generation of Beams is currently running the Jim Beam distillery, with Frederick Booker Noe III (great-grandson of Jim Beam) at the helm as Master Distiller.
