Kentucky Owl Distillery

Kentucky Owl is kind of a cult brand in the bourbon world and its popularity is growing quickly. The original Kentucky Owl Whiskey was established in 1879 by Charles Mortimer Dedman. It ran successfully for many years, until the company’s warehouse mysteriously burned down one night during the Prohibition. Rumors go that the barrels of bourbon stored there were stolen and sold in local speakeasies. Whatever the case, Kentucky Owl wouldn’t be heard of again for years to come. A couple of years ago, Dixon Dedman revived his great-great grandfather’s brand. He searched for the best barrels to create a premium, small-batch whiskey, and the first release came out in 2014. The bourbon used for Kentucky Owl whiskey is sourced from a number of undisclosed distilleries. The mashbill is also kept secret.
