Macduff Distillery

Macduff is one of the younger malt distilleries in Scotland. The distillery was established in 1960 by Marty Dyke, George Crawford, James Stirrat and Brodie Hepburn. In 1964, the number of stills was increased from two to three. A fourth still was added three years later. The distillery’s first bottling was launched in 1968. In 1972, Macduff was bought by William Lawson Distillers. A fifth still was installed in 1990. Bacardi took over William Lawson in 1993, and transferred Macduff to their subsidiary John Dewar & Sons. Macduff’s whisky is always bottled as either Glen Deveron or The Deveron; the name Macduff is only used by independent bottlers.
