1770 Release No. 1 is the first whisky produced by the newly reopened Glasgow Distillery. The limited-edition release matured for 3 years in first-fill ex-bourbon casks and was finished in virgin oak. It was bottled in 2018 at 46%. Only 5000 bottles of 1770 Glasgow Distillery Release No. 1 2018 Limited Edition have been released. The original Glasgow Distillery was founded at Dundashill in 1770, making it one of Scotland’s oldest licensed distilleries. It operated until the beginning of the 20th century, after which Glasgow didn’t have another single malt distillery for over a hundred years. In 2014, The Glasgow Distillery Company opened in the heart of the city, bringing single malt distilling back to Glasgow.
