This is the legendary 16 year old A.H. Hirsch 1974 Gold Foil, that was bottled in 2003 in Frankfort, Kentucky. After the batch was commisioned by A.H. Hirsch in 1974 at the Michter’s distillery, the aging barrels switched from owner to owner, until they finally got bottled by Julian Van Winkle III. There are also a gold wax and blue wax edition that were bottled earlier in Lawrenceburg, Kentucky. After 16 years, in 1990, the complete batch was transferred into stainless steel tanks by Van Winkle, thus ending the maturation process. You are buying bourbon history with this one. Tasty history that will never be made ever again.
