This Aberlour A’Bunadh Alba Batch 2 was bottled in 2020 at a cask strength of 58.7% and released exclusively for the American market. Aberlour A’Bunadh Alba is a bourbon-matured single malt from the Aberlour distillery, usually known for its more sherried style. The whisky is distilled from locally sourced barley and matured in bourbon oak barrels. A’Bunadh is Gaelic for ‘the original’, referring to a time capsule discovered at the distillery in 1975. The time capsule contained a bottle of whisky from 1898, which was sent to the lab to be analysed. The A’Bunadh series is Aberlour’s attempt to recreate this original single malt. Alba is the Gaelic word for Scotland. The name also refers to Quercus Alba (American Oak), the type of wood used to mature this whisky.
