In the 2021 edition of his Whisky Bible, whisky critic Jim Murray named the Alberta Premium Cask Strength Rye ‘2021 World Whisky of the Year’. Due to sexist remarks in the book, Alberta Distillers has distanced themselves from the award. Jim Murray may be sexist, but Alberta Premium Cask Strength Rye is still some of the finest whisky out there right now. And it’s only available in Europe here! This limited-edition cask strength rye whisky from the Canadian distillery Alberta Distillers was made with both malted and unmalted locally-grown rye. The water used in the distilling process is Rocky Mountain water from the Arapaho Glacier. The whisky matured in charred oak casks and was bottled in fall 2019 at a cask strength of 65.1% ABV.
