Alberta Distillers was founded back in 1946 and these days it is not only the largest buyer of rye grain in Canada but also the biggest producer of rye whisky, pumping out 3 times more than the rest of North America put together. That’s a lotta whisky!! Some of it goes into other brands like Masterson’s or Whistlepig but in this case we’ve got a bona fide Alberta Springs Canadian Sipping Whisky 1982. These days it is owned by Suntory though when this was distilled in 1982 the brand was owned by National Distillers. Every drop of this old Canadian rye is charcoal filtered for smoothness, and with its stylish wooden display case it looks almost as good as it tastes. Please note: the box is not perfect.
