The Indian company Amrut Distilleries ventured into the world of whisky distilling in the 1980s, the first distillery in India to do so. In 2004, Amrut launched their single malt in Europe. The brand gained worldwide popularity in 2009, when Jim Murray named Amrut Single Malt the third best whisky in the world. Amrut 7 Years Old Special Limited Edition For LMDW 2014 Cask #5144 is a special release selected by La Maison du Whisky. The whisky was drawn from a single ex-Caroni rum cask, and bottled in September 2021 at 60%. Just 150 bottles were produced.
