Amrut Ex-Caroni Special Limited Edition is a single malt from the Indian distillery Amrut. The whisky was distilled in 2014 and matured in ex-Caroni rum cask #5143 for 6 years. In August 2020 it was specially bottled for La Maison du Whisky at an extraordinary ABV of 60%. The Indian company Amrut Distilleries ventured into the world of whisky distilling in the 1980s, the first distillery in India to do so. In 2004, Amrut launched their single malt in Europe. The brand gained worldwide popularity in 2009, when Jim Murray named Amrut Single Malt the third best whisky in the world. Only 156 of the Amrut Ex-Caroni Special Limited Edition have been released.
