Arran is one of Scotland’s younger distilleries. It opened in 1995 in the village of Lochranza, on the Isle of Arran. Arran 17 Years Old is the second release in a trilogy of single malts leading up to a new addition to the distillery’s core range, the Arran 18 Years Old. The whisky matured in the finest ex-sherry casks, and saw a limited release of 9000 bottles. On the nose, you’ll find aromas of warm spices, candied citrus peel, tinned mandarins and orchard fruits. The palate brings flavours of sweet spice, cigar tobacco, dark chocolate and orange oil. The finish is long and warm with a sherry wood character and a hint of bonfire smoke.
