Have a look on the right-hand side of the label on this bottle ofArran 18 Years Old First Edition and you’ll see the iconic two eagles of Arran. Back when the distillery was being built in the early 1990s, two golden eagles decided to fly down and check out what was going on. While they were nesting, construction works had to be halted, but eventually they left for long enough that the building could be completed. Most years they still return to nest and to keep an eye on things and sometimes they even show off with a little aerial display during big events. Their eagle eyes have ensured that we have a top-notch drop here, and Arran 18 Years Old was a category winner in both the 2019 and 2020 World Whiskies Awards. It has a nose of orchard fruits, green apple and toasted oak. The palate has dark chocolate, orange, caramel and stewed peach. The finish has spice, citrus and more peaches.
