The Isle of Arran was once home to over fifty illicit whisky distilleries. When the only legal distillery closed in 1837, the island remained whiskyless for more than 150 years. The Arran distillery opened in 1995, finally bringing whisky back to the island. This rare single cask Arran, distilled in the year the distillery opened, was bottled to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Dutch independent bottler Van Wees. The single malt was drawn from 25-year-old sherry hogshead #1995/399, and bottled in October 2021 at 49.3%. Arran 25 Years Old Van Wees 100th Anniversary has notes of fresh apple, honey and chocolate. Only 299 bottles have been released.
