The two eagles soaring on the top of this bottle are a tribute to the original pair of Golden Eagles who spied what was going on in Arran in the early 1990s and went to take a look. Under their gaze the first distillery on the Isle of Arran for over 150 years was being built, though the eagles did disrupt construction for a little bit while they were nesting. Clearly there’s no hard feelings though because the eagles often return each year and now every bottle of Arran features these famous birds. This particular bottle is a single cask bottling from sherry cask #84. Limited to only 578 bottles and with all the bottle information lovingly handwritten on the label, this is quite a special drop from Arran. Arran 9 Years Old Sherry Single Cask 1998 Cask #84 has a nose of cherry, prune and raspberry as well as salted caramel and a little spice. The palate displays cinnamon and clove spice with toffee, dried fruits and a little chocolate. The finish has a sherry glow with coffee, cocoa and cherry. Only 578 bottles were produced so you better swoop in and get them while you can!
