‘O thou, my muse! guid auld Scotch drink!’ So said Scotland’s national poet Robert Burns. Clearly he was a fan of a good dram, and to celebrate Arran becoming a patron of the Robert Burns World Federation Ltd they released this special Arran Robert Burns World Federation Limited Edition 2001. It comes in a beautiful box with a piece of parchment, which take up two spaces in a parcel. The Federation exists to educate the public about Robert Burns, his life and his works and it seems very fitting that a great Scottish distillery like Arran should team up with them. And although Burns never went to the Isle of Arran, it is quite close to his birthplace at Ayrshire. Arran Robert Burns World Federation Limited Edition 2001 has a fresh, herbal nose with ginger and fruit scents. The palate is also fruity, with oranges, pears, apple and a spritz of lemon combining with soft spice and honey. The finish is long with a bit of citrus tang and spice notes. If you want to raise a glass of Arran to Burns you better get in quick though, this is a strictly limited edition release.
