The Balmenach 40 Years Old 1979 Old & Rare Hunter Laing from the Speyside distillery Balmenach was distilled in 1979 and matured for 40 years. It was bottled in 2019 at a cask strength of 45.4% ABV by the independent bottler Hunter Laing for their Old & Rare Platinum Selection series. Old & Rare is an exclusive range consisting of limited-edition single cask whiskies that have been matured for several decades. The Balmenach distillery was officially founded in 1824, only a year after the Excise Act of 1823 was passed, which made it legal to distill whisky in Scotland. This makes it one of the oldest legal distilleries that is still operating today! Only 174 bottles of Balmenach 40 Years Old 1979 Old & Rare Hunter Laing were released. This release comes in a beautiful lacquered wooden gift box.
