The Balvenie 12 Years Old Triple Cask matured in three distinct cask types: Oloroso sherry butts, first-fill bourbon barrels, and traditional refill bourbon casks. The whisky, released as a 1L Travel Retail Exclusive, is characterized by subtle spice and honeycomb, with notes of dried fruit, oak, vanilla and cinnamon. Balvenie 12 Years Old Triple Cask is made according to a recipe created by Malt Master David C. Stewart. Stewart started working at Balvenie in 1962 and became the distillery’s Malt Master in 1974. He still holds the position today, making him the longest-serving malt master in the entire Scotch whisky industry.
