Balvenie 21 Years Old The Second Red Rose is a rich single malt from Balvenie, with notes of ripe fruit and delicate spices. It matured for 21 years and was finished in casks that previously held Shiraz, an Australian red wine. Balvenie 21 Years Old The Second Red Rose was released in 2021 as part of the Balvenie Stories range, celebrating the distillery’s rich history. The story of the Second Red Rose goes back to the 15th century. The Scottish noblewoman Margaret Douglas, known as the Fair Maid of Galloway, lived in Balvenie Castle for many years. After her husband, the 8th Earl of Douglas, passed away, the castle fell into the ownership of King James II. Enamored by her beauty, the king allowed Margaret to continue living in the castle in return for an annual payment of a single red rose. Balvenie 21 Years Old The Second Red Rose comes in an eye-catching tube featuring Balvenie Castle.
