In 2002, Balvenie’s distillery manager Ian Millar travelled to Islay to get some inspiration from the renowned whisky-making island. Back home, he started to experiment with what he had learned. He ordered a batch of Speyside peat and distilled it for one week only. Since then it has become tradition at the distillery to distill peated whisky for one week every year. This 14-year-old single malt is the result of the famous ‘Week of Peat’ at Balvenie. It is the second release in the Balvenie Stories collection, a series of special malts inspired by generations of stories at Balvenie. The audio story accompanying this bottle is available on Balvenie’s website.
