A nearly 50 year old single malt whisky from the now closed Banff distillery. Banff lived through fires, explosions and even Nazi attacks (the Luftwaffe bombed their warehouse in WWII), but economic decline finally took its toll in 1983. It was mothballed, demolished and in 1991 a fire burned down the last standing warehouse of Banff whisky. This vintage 1966 whisky is a true gem. It was bottled in 2015 by Gordon & Macphail from their remaining Banff casks in their Rare Old range. This lot (RO/15/03) had an outturn of 362 bottles, which is still a very decent amount for a 49 year old single malt. It matured in a refill sherry butt. The Banff 1966-2015 Rare Old 49 Years Old comes in the red Rare Old colelctor’s box.
