Banff 37 Years Old Dead Whisky Society 1971 Cask #633, is a single cask whisky from the Banff distillery. The distillery closed later 1983, however this barrel was released by indie bottler Dead Whisky Society. The whisky was distilled on 4 March 1971, and matured in cask #633 for 37 years. It was bottled on 6 August 2008, at a cask strength of 53.3%. The mission of the awesomely named Dead Whisky Society, is to seek out the finest whiskies from Scotland’s closed distilleries and present them as a tribute to that specific lost distillery. This thirty plus year old is a complex, old-school malt with aromas of ripe fruit, tobacco, vanilla, light smoke, mint, spices and a subtle farminess on the nose. The palate is oily and reveals flavours of rich fruits, lemon, coconut, vanilla, burnt wood, light peat and pepper. The finish is long and satisfying on citrus, menthol, pepper and honey.
