Ben Bracken Speyside Single Malt 30 Years Old 1987 is bottled by Clydesdale from an undisclosed Speyside distillery for the German supermarket chain Lidl. Lidl really shook up the whisky world when they started releasing the Ben Bracken a few years ago. Ben Bracken doesn’t relate to any actual distillery. It’s a made up name that sounds the part, but more incredibly the whisky inside is actually quite good. It has a nice malty nose, with caramel, toffee, honey and apple. The palate shows orange, pear and apple, alongside butterscotch, cinnamon and ginger. The finish has a sweet woody note with chocolate and espresso.
