Ben Nevis 23 Years Old The Whisky Jury 1995 is the VERY FIRST release from independent bottlers The Whisky Jury. They reviewed all the evidence (which means they got to taste samples from all over Scotland, not a bad job if you ask us) and judged cask 970 to be some criminally good whisky. The cask only yielded 245 bottles so this is an extremely rare find. Ben Nevis is Scotland’s highest mountain and nestled at the bottom is the Ben Nevis distillery which was founded in 1825 by Long John McDonald. He was a giant in his day, standing at 6ft 4in tall and the distillery he founded is still going strong. The Whisky Jury is an independent bottler based in Belgium that has sniffed out some extraordinary whiskies, rums and cognac’s since it was founded. This Ben Nevis 23 Years Old The Whisky Jury 1995 has a nose of candied fruit, wax, chalk and damp earth. The palate has flavours of peach and orange with the same waxy quality as the nose and a hint of old leather. The finish is fruity with wood spice and pepper.
