Benromach 40 Years Old 2021 Release is the first annual batch release of Benromach’s extraordinary 40-year-old single malt. The whisky matured for 40 years in first-fill Oloroso sherry casks, before being bottled at a cask strength of 57.1%. Benromach is the smallest working distillery in Speyside – it is operated by just two employees! The distillery was founded in 1898 by Duncan McCallum and F.W. Brickman. Benromach was modernized in the 1960s and 1970s, but during the harsh economic times of whisky making in the 1980s, the distillery temporarily stopped distilling altogether. After the independent bottler Gordon & MacPhail acquired Benromach in 1993, the distillery restarted operations. Only 1047 bottles of Benromach 40 Years Old 2021 Release have been released.
