Immerse yourself in the world of Norse mythology with Bivrost Yggdrasil 2024, the first non-limited expression from Aurora Spirit, the northernmost distillery in the world. Following the success of the extremely popular Nine Worlds of Norse Mythology series, Bivrost Yggdrasil will be released in small batches once a year. The single malt gets its name from the sacred tree Yggdrasil that is situated in the centre of the cosmos. This mighty ash tree holds the Nine Worlds, which are arrayed around it and held together by its branches. Bivrost Yggdrasil 2024 is handcrafted from slightly smoky Nordic barley malt, fermented with glacial meltwater and distilled on a sustainable copper still. The fruity spirit is then aged between 4 and 6 years in Oloroso seasoned and in-house charred casks and stored within a wooden Viking longhouse. The Arctic temperature variations impact the whisky’s maturation, with an average yearly temperature of 0.6°C. The result is a complex and fruity whisky with aromas of dried fruits, orange blossoms, bonfire, old Spanish bodega, roasted nuts and a touch of peat. The palate offers a massive complexity and velvety mouthfeel, with notes of toasted oak, caramelised mandarins and hints of peat. Just 9009 numbered bottles of Bivrost Yggdrasil 2024 have been released.
