This Batch 1 Black Gate Australian Whisky by TBWC matured for 3 years in casks that previously held Apera, an Australian sherry-style wine. It was bottled in 2021 at 46% ABV. The Black Gate Distillery was founded in 2012 by Brian and Genise Hollingworth. Brian, an automotive mechanic by trade, learned the art of distillation from Tasmanian distilling guru Bill Lark. The first Black Gate single malt was released in 2015. The distillery has an annual capacity of just 3000 liters of whisky, but also produces vodka and rum. The label shows Black Gate’s unofficial mascot, dachshund Frankie, protecting the distillery from trespassing emus. Only 254 bottles of Black Gate Australian Whisky 3 Years Old TBWC Batch 1 have been released. In recent years the whisky industry in Australia has grown exponentially, with over 50 distilleries currently having whiskies on the market. 2021 marks the first release of That Boutique-y Whisky Company’s Australia Series, which brings single malts from these new and innovative distilleries to whisky lovers from all over the world.
