Black Gate 3 Years Old TBWC Batch 1 is a limited-edition pot still rum from the Black Gate distillery in Australia, bottled by That Boutique-y Whisky Company for the Australia Series. The rum was made from molasses sourced from Queensland and distilled in direct-fired pot stills. It was then aged for 3 years in tawny casks and bottled in 2021 at 50% ABV. The Black Gate Distillery was founded in 2012 by Brian and Genise Hollingworth. Brian, an automotive mechanic by trade, learned the art of distillation from Tasmanian distilling guru Bill Lark. Besides rum, the distillery also produces whisky and vodka. The label shows Black Gate’s unofficial mascot, dachshund Frankie, protecting the distillery from trespassing emus. Only 220 bottles of Black Gate 3 Years Old TBWC Batch 1 have been released.
