Bowmore 18 Years Old TBWC Batch 20 is a limited-edition Bowmore single malt, bottled by quirky independent bottler That Boutique-y Whisky Company. Batch 20 matured for 18 years and was bottled in 2021 at 50.3% ABV. Bowmore is the oldest distillery on Islay. It was officially founded in 1779 by the local merchant David Simpson, although it is believed Simpson was already distilling whisky at the site for about a decade previously. Fun fact: in the 1980s, one of Bowmore’s old warehouses was converted into the local swimming pool. It is heated with waste heat from the distillery. The earlier batches featured one of the lifeguards chasing a young lad with a freshly-swiped bra from the pool’s changing rooms, but they’ve run off the edge of the label by now. Only 218 bottles of Bowmore 18 Years Old TBWC Batch 20 have been released.
