A 22-year-old single cask Bowmore, released exclusively for travellers at the Frankfurt Airport. The whisky was distilled in 1997 and matured for 22 years in first-fill bourbon hogshead #32477. It was bottled in 2020 at 52.6%. Bowmore is the oldest distillery on Islay. It was officially founded in 1779 by the local merchant David Simpson, although it is believed Simpson was already distilling whisky at the site for about a decade previously. The distillery’s current owners, Morrison Bowmore Distillers Ltd., took over the company in 1963. Morrison Bowmore became a subsidiary of the Japanese distilling giant Suntory in 1994. Only 236 bottles of Bowmore 22 Years Old Frankfurt Travellers Edition 1997 have been released.
