This 22-year-old Bowmore single malt is a limited-edition release from the mid-1990s. The whisky comes in a stunning deep blue ceramic bottle, which has become something of a legend over the years. The label represents the ancient Celtic myth surrounding the shores of Lochindaal, on which the Bowmore distillery is located. According to the Romeo and Juliet-esque legend, the daughter of a Pictish king fell in love with a captured Scottish warrior and helped him escape. They fled together towards Islay, but just before arriving on the shores of Lochindaal, a terrible storm arose and their boat crashed against the rocks. No trace of the lovers was found. But ever since, a pair of white gulls can be seen soaring across the loch, settling neither on the western nor the eastern shore, as if torn between the two.
