The Bowmore distillery is located on the island of Islay, with its beautiful nature and scenic coasts. Bowmore Gold Reef is part of a trio of single malts released in 2014 for the travel retail market. It is named after the reef in front of the distillery, coloured golden by the reflection of the sun. The whisky matured predominantly in first-fill bourbon barrels, with a small number of sherry casks. The result is a sweet, fruity and smoky dram with aromas of vanilla, coconut milk, delicious baked peach, oranges and lemons. On the palate, notes of tangy peat, pineapple, juicy mango and kiwi fruit are tempered by sea salt and olive oil, leading to a long, honeyed and zesty finish.
