Brexiteer 28 Years Old Teaspooned Dufftown Blended Whisky is a blended whisky from two renowned Speyside distilleries, bottled by the Whisky Center. It was released to commemorate the United Kingdom leaving the European Union. Although they are officially not allowed to share any information, Whisky Center does allude to the fact that this is a Burnside, aka a teaspooned Balvenie whisky. Teaspooned whisky is a microscopical ‘blended’ Scotch. To avoid the distillery’s name being used for the whisky, a tiny bit of malt from another distillery is added to make it a blend. In the case of Burnside, that is usually Glenfiddich. The Brexiteer matured in American oak cask #7389. The barrel was filled on 30 October 1991, around the same time the Maastricht Treaty was approved, establishing the European Union. The whisky was bottled on 10 October 2019, when Brexit seemed to be finalized. That’s technically 27 years as far as our math skills are concerned, but who are we to argue with a bottle of whisky? Only 182 bottles of Brexiteer 28 Years Old Teaspooned Dufftown Blended Whisky were released.
