This is not a whiskey. For their Experimental Collection, Buffalo Trace has created a 17-year-old rum marriage. Real rum from Buffalo Trace, for realz y’all! Two barrels of rum were distilled from a molasses wash in 1991. One barrel was new American white oak and one was used American white oak. The rum matured for 17 years before being married together and bottled in 2008 at 90 proof. This experiment explores the effects of double maturation on a rum, and has resulted in an extraordinary bottling.
