The Buffalo Trace Distillery introduced their eponymous Buffalo Trace Bourbon in August 1999, two months after the distillery changed its name from the George T. Stagg Distillery. When the first Europeans arrived in North America, buffaloes roamed the continent. Their paths created visible trails that the colonists could follow. One of these ancient buffalo crossings was on the banks of the Kentucky River, where the Buffalo Trace Distillery would later be established.
