An amazing indie bottling from Islay’s most remote distillery, aged for almost half a century and released by Signatory Vintage for the Cask Strength Collection. Bunnahabhain 46 Years Old Signatory Vintage 1971 was distilled on 8 April 1971 and aged for 46 years in hogshead #2226. It was bottled on 24 July 2017 at 42.8%. This is one of only 95 bottles released. Bunnahabhain is one of the nine active distilleries on Islay. It was founded in 1881 by William Robertson together with the brothers William and James Greenlees. The village of Bunnahabhain was founded at the same time to house the distillery’s workers. Bun na h-Abhainne is Gaelic for ‘foot of the river’, referring to the Margadale Spring from which the distillery sources its water.
