Similarly to an artist collective—where artists come together to share inspiration and creativity—La Maison du Whisky’s Artist Collective range brings together a wide variety of single malt styles. The labels for this 6th edition have been designed by the contemporary artist Yanis Khannoussi. Bunnahabhain’s heavily peated single malt is named after Staoisha, the loch located just a short distance from the distillery. Bunnahabhain 8 Years Old Artist Collective 2013 is an excellent example of Staoisha. Aged in dechar/rechar hogsheads, this fierce and intense dram has a lively nose with aromas of delicate smoke, salty peat, coconut milk, verbena, liquorice and aniseed. The palate is powerful, opening with earthy peat. It then becomes fruity with notes of melon and grapefruit, before taking on creamy and floral qualities. The finish is long with salt, herbal peat, black pepper, clove and liquorice.
