Caol Ila 2011 Samaroli is a single cask whisky from the Caol Ila distillery on Islay, bottled by Italian independent bottler Samaroli. The whisky was distilled in 2011 and matured in cask #64, before being bottled in 2020 for the Coilltean range. Samaroli introduced the Coilltean brand (Gaelic for ‘forests’) in the early 2000s. The name is used for the company’s bottling operation in Scotland, which was established after the partnership with R.W. Duthie ended. Caol Ila is the largest distillery on Islay. It was founded in 1846 by Hector Henderson, a distillery owner from Glasgow. Caol Ila is Gaelic for ‘Sound of Islay’, referring to the distillery’s location overlooking the scenic strait.
