Caroni 1997-2017 Bristol Classic Rum is a limited-edition Trinidad rum, bottled by Bristol Spirits for their Bristol Classic Rum range. The rum was distilled in 1997 and matured for 20 years. It was bottled in 2017 at 61.5%. Founded in 1918, Caroni was the state distillery of Trinidad for most of the 20th century. When the island’s sugar-growing industry collapsed, the government decided to shut down the distillery in 2002. The majority of its remaining stock is in the hands of the Italian bottling company Velier, led by rum expert Luca Gargano.
