Chichibu 7 Years Old LMDW Foundations 2016 Cask #7076 is a rare Japanese single malt whisky from Chichibu. It was released as part of La Maison du Whisky’s Foundations collection, which highlights the architectural heritage of the spirit industry. Chichibu, founded by Ichiro Akuto, began production in February 2008. The distillery is located about 70 kilometres northwest of Tokyo. The local climate, with humid summers and cold winters, provides excellent conditions for maturing whisky. Chichibu 7 Years Old LMDW Foundations 2016 Cask #7076 was distilled in 2016 and matured for 7 years in a second-fill ex-peated whisky barrel. It was bottled in 2024 at 64.5%. The result is an enchanting dram with malty, ashy, spicy and fruity layers. The refined nose displays aromas of citrus zest, walnuts, tiger balm, camphor and ash. The palate is lively with lots of fruit and spices, rounded off by a long finish of coconut, iodine, spices, lemon and a hint of smoke. One of 200 bottles.
