Chichibu 8 Years Old LMDW Foundations 2016 Cask #14044 is a rare Japanese single malt whisky from the Chichibu distillery. It was released as part of La Maison du Whisky’s Foundations collection, which highlights the architectural heritage of the spirit industry. Chichibu, founded by Ichiro Akuto, began production in February 2008. The distillery is located about 70 kilometres northwest of Tokyo. The local climate, with humid summers and cold winters, provides excellent conditions for maturing whisky. Chichibu 8 Years Old LMDW Foundations 2016 Cask #14044 was distilled in 2016 and bottled in 2024 at 65.5%. The single malt has been finished in a red wine cask from one of Pauillac’s most renowned crus, receiving a delicate silky texture and highly complex aromatic palette thanks to the Médoc wine’s wonderfully noble influence. Only 268 bottles have been released.
