Dusty bourbon from a distillery long forgotten. Christy and Brooks is a vintage whiskey produced for the German market in the 1960s. The bourbon was distilled at the Greenbrier distillery. It matured for at least 4 years and is bottled at 86 proof. Greenbrier was a historical distillery just east of Bardstown. It was in operation until the 1960s; today, nothing is left of the distillery. Greenbrier, also known as the Nelson County Distillery Company, was initially operated by whiskey legend Raymond Basil Hayden in the 1870s. The plant closed at the start of Prohibition, but a new distillery was built on the site in 1935. The new Greenbrier distillery was leased to one C. A. Neumann in 1949. Only then did the plant restart production. The distillery was gone by the 1970s, leaving almost no traces except for a couple of rare bottles such as this one.
