The original Clynelish distillery was founded by the first Marquess of Stafford who later became the Duke of Sutherland. The clever Duke found that his estate was producing a large amount of excess barley that he had no use for. So, he did the most logical thing, he opened a distillery of course! A large portion of Clynelish’s output goes into Johnnie Walker blends but the master distiller has selected a special few to be double matured in Oloroso Seco casks. This Clynelish Distillers Edition 1992 is only the second and one of the oldest in the very limited Distillers Edition range. The nose is spiced with sherry, sultana, herbal and oak notes. The palate is spicy and oaky with a sherried glow and winter berries. The finish is long with a touch of saltiness.
