In 2001, Compass Box released its very first blended malt: Eleuthera. The expression was discontinued in 2004. The Lost Blend, introduced in 2014, pays homage to Eleuthera. The name also refers to a 1907 short story by O. Henry about two bartenders trying to recreate a blend of spirits which possessed almost supernatural qualities. The Lost Blend consists of two unpeated Highland whiskies from the Clynelish and Allt-á-Bhainne distilleries, and a peated whisky from the Caol Ila distillery on Islay. The label and the box show a collection of lost objects, from a basketball to the RMS Lusitania.
