Every year, the independent bottler/blender Compass Box creates a blended malt for the whisky festival Whisky Live Paris. But things went a bit different in 2020, as all in-person events were cancelled. However, the absence of a whisky festival does not have to mean the absence of a festival whisky. Therefore, Compass Box created this special limited-edition blend to celebrate whisky and the ways in which it connects us, even when we’re apart. The blend contains whisky from Caol Ila, Highland Park, Clynelish, Glen Elgin, North British, and Cameronbridge. The whisky’s name, just like that of the company’s 2015 release ‘This Is Not A Luxury Whisky’, refers to René Magritte’s Ceci n’est pas une pipe, a painting that questions our perceptions of reality. This whisky both is, and is not, a festival whisky.
